OK BUT I JUST REALIZED

her telling Sherlock to go to hell makes perfect sense and solidifies the fact that she is a villain and did NOT go out as a hero

she saved Sherlock LITERALLY so that John would hate him.

that is sherlock’s worst nightmare and she did that to him. 

THIS IS SO RIGHT.

IT’S WHAT SHE WANTED. FOR JOHN TO HATE HIM.

EXACTLY. If he had taken another bullet, it would just put John in pain about almost losing his friend (or fully losing him again). But because Sherlock made the vow about protecting them, John would be at peace with it, I think

whereas if Mary dies FOR Sherlock, John is gonna put every iota of blame onto Sherlock. And it’s going to kill Sherlock.

So what Sherlock fears the most is not John dying, it’s John hating him… and it has happened now, maybe that’s why he looks so scabby in the next episode, because it’s destroys him…
